Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether delirium prevention education before an attack of delirium was effective for hospitalized elders at high risk for delirium.

Method: This study was a non equivalent control group and non synchronized design and chi square and t-test were used to analyze the data with the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. Experimental and control group had 37 and 36 patients respectively.

Results: The delirium attack rate was lower in the experimental group and length of admission was longer in the control group than in the experimental group, but the differences were not statistically significant.

Conclusion: The result of this study suggest that there is a need to develop preventive nursing intervention programs for delirium risk factors in hospitalized elders.
